Sleep, Stress, and Self-Regulation in Young Children
This course provides an exploration of the critical connections between sleep, stress physiology, and self-regulation in early childhood development. Grounded in current neuroscience and developmental research, the course highlights how rest, routines, and relational safety shape children’s capacity to learn, adapt, and thrive. Special attention will be given to the ways in which predictable routines act as protective factors, buffering children from the harmful effects of stress and supporting secure attachments. Practical tools will be introduced, including sensory-based calming techniques, the language of regulation, and strategies for supporting smooth transitions such as arrival, nap, mealtimes, and goodbyes.
