An Introduction to Thematic Learning
Early learning is a time of wonder, curiosity, and joyful discovery, and theme-based learning brings all of that to life. In this course, we’ll explore how curriculum themes weave together different lessons under one big idea, creating a learning experience that feels both playful and purposeful. As an educator, using themes makes lesson planning both structured and flexible. You’ll have a guiding framework for what skills and concepts to cover, while still leaving room for creativity, spontaneity, and child-led exploration. Families, too, benefit from this approach, as themes provide an easy way to follow along with their child’s progress and extend learning at home. (1 hour)
