Strategies to Support Children in Foster and Kinship Care
This course provides child care professionals with trauma-informed, equity-centered strategies to support children navigating foster and kinship care arrangements. Participants will explore the developmental impacts of adversity, relational disruption, and placement instability, with a focus on creating emotionally safe, inclusive learning environments. This course equips educators to recognize signs of stress and dysregulation, affirm diverse family structures, and foster identity development and cultural continuity.
Key topics include interpreting behavior through a trauma-informed lens, adapting classroom materials and routines to honor all caregiving relationships, and partnering with families and caregivers across complex relational landscapes.
