Teaching Young Children about Doctors, Dentists and Veterinarians
This course equips early childhood educators with developmentally appropriate strategies for introducing children to health and medical community helpers, including doctors and nurses, dentists, and veterinarians. Through play-based learning, inclusive storytelling, and emotionally safe exploration, educators will learn how to present these roles in ways that foster trust, empathy, and curiosity. Participants will explore how health professionals support individual and community well-being through care, prevention, and emergency response. The course emphasizes trauma-informed and equity-centered approaches to teaching about medical helpers, highlighting relational safety, calm communication, and the importance of consent and comfort in caregiving interactions.
