About this Course

The first few years of life are a time of remarkable growth and transformation. During the toddler years, children progress from complete dependence on caregivers to becoming increasingly independent individuals who actively explore their environment and form relationships with others. Understanding social and emotional development during this critical stage enables caregivers to provide meaningful support that promotes healthy growth and learning. This course introduces students to the key social and emotional developmental milestones of toddlers ages 18 to 36 months. Participants will explore how toddlers develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, social relationships, communication skills, empathy, and independence. The course examines the important role child care providers play in fostering positive social interactions, building secure relationships, and creating supportive learning environments that encourage healthy emotional development. In addition, students will learn to recognize signs of potential developmental delays, understand the importance of early identification and intervention, and develop strategies for effectively communicating concerns with parents and families in a professional and supportive manner. Note: This course focuses exclusively on the social and emotional development of children between 18 and 36 months of age. Upon completion, students will have the knowledge and skills needed to support toddlers' social and emotional growth while partnering with families to promote positive developmental outcomes. 🌟 IMPORTANT INFORMATION 🌟 ✔️ Washington State Nexport courses are not approved in Washington state to meet annual STARS training requirements.
