About this Course

This course focuses on the cognitive development of preschool-aged children from 4 to 5 years of age. During this stage, children experience significant growth in their ability to think, reason, learn, and understand the world around them. As their knowledge base expands, preschoolers become more capable of solving problems, expressing ideas, remembering information, and applying what they have learned in new situations. Students will explore the major areas of cognitive development, including language and perception, mental imagery and intuition, problem-solving and reasoning, memory, and the acquisition of new skills. The course examines how preschoolers develop the ability to communicate more effectively, engage in imaginative thinking, follow multi-step directions, and learn foundational skills such as holding a pencil, drawing shapes, and beginning early writing activities.
