About this Course

This course provides educators, child care professionals, and youth development practitioners with an overview of the assessment process used to identify school-age children who may have special needs. While every child develops at an individual pace, some children experience physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges that may require specialized support and services. Early recognition and appropriate assessment are essential for ensuring that children receive the resources and interventions needed to reach their full potential. Participants will learn how to recognize indicators that may suggest the need for further evaluation and gain an understanding of the assessment process used to identify exceptionalities and developmental differences. The course explores the characteristics of children with a wide range of abilities and disabilities and emphasizes the importance of considering each child's unique strengths, cultural background, family experiences, and individual needs throughout the assessment process. 🌟 IMPORTANT INFORMATION 🌟 ✔️ Washington State Nexport courses are not approved in Washington state to meet annual STARS training requirements.
