About this Course

This course provides early childhood educators and caregivers with a foundational understanding of the identification and assessment of preschool children with special needs. Participants will explore a variety of special needs that may affect preschool-aged children, including developmental, cognitive, physical, behavioral, emotional, and communication-related challenges. The course examines common indicators that may suggest a child requires additional evaluation and emphasizes the importance of observing and documenting developmental progress in early learning settings. The assessment process is reviewed in detail, including screening, referral, evaluation, and eligibility determination.
